By the way, this is from documentary called “Black tar hero1n”. Very sad one I might say. Many young people lost their future by taking dangerous habits and one of the reason for that was “they didn’t know what to do”. Various sports including basketball can deter young people from doing wrong things in their lives.

I like watching old videos showing how things looked in the past and it’s amazing how the world evolved in this short amount of time. In 1995-1998 (when this documentary was filmed) there were no Google, no Twitter, no Digg and other popular websites.

So summer is over and my Nike Zoom BB kicks weared off quite a bit during the daily summer basketball routine. Looking at online Nike store shelves I only found 1 interesting model for me and it is Zoom Kobe IV. It’s nice you can customise and make your basketball shoes really unique with NIkeID.

I’ve got really amazed at how much variations you can make and at last decided to count how many different pairs of shoes I can create. It ended up at an astonishing number of nearly 13 billion combinations. If you want to know how I got this number here’s the calculations.

Below is a list of various shoe parts that can be customised with your color of choice:

• Vamp: 13 colors
• Tip and Heel (Reptile Patent + Synthetic leather) 6+13 colors
• Quarter and tongue: 4 colors
• Collar: 13 colors
• Flywire: 7 colors
• Swoosh and Kobe logo: 10 colors
• Heel counter: 5 colors
• Collar lining: 11 colors
• Midsole and Swoosh Border: 2 colors
• Forefoot outsole: 10 colors
• Lace: 13 colors

So If stochastic lesson at school was right there should be 13*(6+13)*4*13*7*10*5*11*2*10*13 = 12.856.844.000 combinations.

I don’t even considered collar and heel IDs because total combinations would end up in astronomical numbers.

So in conclusion every Earth citizen can have at least 2 different Zoom Kobe IV Basketball Shoes. However not everyone is playing basketball in the world.
